It's almost the best time of the year!!!

Check out the commercial for this year's Pop Montreal.... they have some pretty great fucking bands lined up for us. Don't be lazy and great your ass to the Plateau from September 21-25th!

Joseph Gordon-Levitt becomes cooler and plays "Lithium"

Yeah so Joseph Gordon-Levitt, that guy from Inception and a bunch of other great films, decided to cover Nirvana while in Seattle the other day and it turned out pretty well. Check it out bitches (sorry too much Breaking Bad lately):

Fuck Yeah! It's a Fucked Up Video!

Here is the fantastic new video for Fucked Up's "Queen of Hearts," from their brand new album huge/crazy concept album "David Comes to Life." I hope you enjoy as much as I did. Don't forget to check them out at Osheaga at the end of the month either.

Brent Hinds of Mastodon has 2 side projects!

The Mastodon singer/guitar player has 2 side projects on the go and both will be released as a double cd set June 7th. No word on a vinyl pressing yet. Both these projects are pretty big departures from the math metal that is Mastodon but they are each great in their own ways... check'em out:

Fiend Without a Face - "Black Grass"
The rockabily act

West End Motel - "Under My Skin"
The almost classic rock act

Pearl Jam front man chills out with his ukelele

Eddie Vedder has release his first video from his upcoming solo album "Ukelele Songs," due out May 31 and as the title suggests the entire album will be him rockin' the ukelele. The first single from this collection, "Longing to Belong" finds Eddie in a pretty chilled out mood, not too much different that his first solo effort the soundtrack to Sean Penn's fantastic "Into the Wild." Check it out:

The Organ - Brother

These ladies may have broken up in 2006 after only putting out a single full length album, but damn their one very Smithy album was great. They got a big break after being on Showcase's "The L Word" but broke up shortly after gaining some success. Check out their video for "Brother" below:

Those Darlins

I know I haven't posted in a while...again... but I had to post this fantastic video for Those Darlins "Be Your Bro," from there latest album "Screw Get Loose." Keep your eyes on these ladies (and guy)I think they are about to get a lot bigger. Enjoy:

Indie rock royalty and a pop star sister joined up for charity.

Alex Turner of Arctic Monkeys

Alex Turner has just released an EP called Submarine which serves as a soundtrack to the indie film of the same name. Here is the song and video for "Piledriver Waltz"

Also don't forget that the Arctic Monkeys themselves have a new album out June 6, entitle "Suck it and See." Here is the lead of single "Brick By Brick"

Lykke Li goes to the moon

Here's the new Lykke Li video for her ballad "I know Places" from her latest LP Wounded Rhymes. I my opinion Lykke Li is much more deserving of this weird indie pop cred that has been placed upon Robyn who I think still sounds like bubble gum shit... anyway that's just me. Check out Lykke Li when she hits the Metropolis May 21 for 36$.

Enjoy...

and the awesome "Get Some"

Warpaint

Damn I love this bands sound. I can't wait to see them March 27th at Sala Rosa.

Hey look who's back....

Peter, Bjorn and John are back to their old form after an instrumental detour and some solo projects. I read a while back that when they entered the studio that they were trying to write a punk record but after listening to playback they decided that they were still writing pop songs...well I can here the punk inspiration, but yes it's still pop.

Maybe we'll see them at Osheaga this summer, I figure they owe us one after canceling to attend the MTV video awards back in 2007.

Check out Breaker, Breaker from the up coming "Gimme Some"

oh and just so it can be stuck in your head again:

Braids Ablum Lanch Thursday night @ Sala Rosa

Be sure to get your ass to Sala on Thursday (Jan 20) night to check out the album release party for Montreal's (via Calgary) hottest up and coming act. They will be playing with two bands who are unknown to me Pop Winds and Long Long Long who are heading out on the road with Braids for their North American tour.

I still have not heard the entire album but I am really enjoying the 5 tracks that I have. They remind me of a more spaced out Warpaint. Check out a couple examples from Native Speaker below:

One of the better up and coming MTL bands

Check it out I just found these great videos of the Barr Brothers performing. Some of you may remember the singer and drummer Andrew and Brad Barr from the jam band the Slip out of Boston. Well the brothers have relocated to Montreal and started up this band with a harp and bass player.

I have seen them live on two occasions, once opening for the Low Anthem at the fantastic GESU and the other at a very intimate POP Montreal show @ L'envers (which was probably my favorite show of last year) and I highly recommend seeing them.

Crocodiles - Hearts of Love

First post of the new year, yeah I've been pretty fucking slack when it comes to this so far this year...but I'll get my ass back into shape, I promise.

Well, I like this video by San Diego's Crocodiles from their album "sleep forever" so that is why I post it. Enjoy:
